from nothing of nothing for nothing
A week ago, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre described calls for a ceasefire in Gaza as “repugnant” and “disgraceful.” And today we get this tweet, from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
This is a struggle between the children of light and the children of darkness, between humanity and the law of the jungle.
I could pick plenty of other examples, lay out the details, denounce this or that, whatever. It wouldn’t matter. It’s not going to change anyone’s mind.
But since I have even this small platform, I should state the obvious: this is genocidal. Think about what the White House said there. That it is “repugnant” to suggest that Israel refrain from unleashing maximal violence on civilians in Gaza. Not that it’s misguided, or impossible, or that this is the best in a set of bad options. No. It’s repugnant. Violence is required. It’s a moral necessity. To suggest otherwise is evil. Down is up.
And of course you can kill the children of the darkness to save the children of the light. I guess you must. I guess you must.
